I'm thrilled to welcome you to Season 3 of Sleep Lists. The whole season will be a nod to my foodie cooking passions. But I think it should help just about anyone get the sleep they are after.
Cooking has always been my happy place, a way to connect with my roots and share love through delicious meals. I find joy in the clatter of pots, the sizzle of ingredients, and the warmth that lingers long after the last bite.
My interest in kitchen tools, the topic of episode one of this season is completely a byproduct of my love of making and sharing food. Modern is great, but I have a little love affair with old, sturdy kitchen tools. Picture this: I'm holding the same wooden spoon that my grandmother wielded over half a century ago. It's weathered, slightly worn, but oh, the stories it could tell! There's something magical about these timeless tools that have stirred the pots of countless meals, each scrape and scoop adding character.
As I sifted through cooking books, both old and new, and rummaged through my own cupboards, I couldn't help but appreciate the charm of these kitchen companions. My friends and family know I love to cook. So I have had my share of joys (and occasional surprises) related to receiving kitchen tools as gifts. My loved ones, in their eagerness to support my culinary adventures, often gift me their favorite tools. Don't get me wrong; I appreciate the gesture wholeheartedly. But here's the scoop: my success rate with these gifts is about 50%. It's a hit or miss, and sometimes the quirky gadgets become cherished companions, while others end up in the back of the drawer or passed on to thrift stores.
